Re: The Silence of the Hams

You are right on the money. Joe Gibbs is an excellent coach but more important a good human being! Gibbs took over a mess in Washington and his impact even in the 1st year could be felt. Hiring Greg Williams and surrounding himself with a good coaching staff even before he did anything else!!! He has restored pride back to our beloved Redskins and we are no longer the laughing stock of Eagles, Giants and even Cowboy fans. He accomplished what no coach has down since 1992... Gee isn't that when he last coached us???? His loyalty coming back and risking his stellar reputation to try and turn this once proud franchise around will always be remembered by me and I am sure to those 90,000 faithful at FEDEX.

Re: Why the Democrats will lose big in 2004

I bet you are feeling pretty silly now about putting this out .... Why the Democrats will lose big in 2004 by John S. Pappas - 10/29/03 ... " Bet the house on Bush by a landslide." First off, that was way too early to make a call like that. Simple logic would have told even a starving homeless man not to eat a moldy piece of food if there could possibly be other dumpsters to dive in around the corner. Secondly, narrow partisan views are what keep people, with the ability to reason, in a constant state of ill-adaptive thought.

Common sense should tell you that if a person was only favored by .5 - 1% margin and has held a consistent 49-51% average approval rating for 4 years, even with the invalid and unreliable 70% range for a few months, then how would that person possibly be favored for a landslide victory. I understand the inner workings of the electoral college and it still takes into consideration the overall popular vote win to determine the electoral vote win. With this in mind along with the 2000 election, the best way to tip the scales would be to manipulate the vote ....AGAIN.

Thanks for your time.

I stand by my comments, now more than ever (barring some terrific scandal or economic crash). I have to offer a caveat however. In the piece I wrote the following: "If the Democrats wish to succeed in 2004, they will have to change their message." Did we not just spend a week hearing how the Democrats were vetting all of the speeches at the convention to make sure they represented a positive message? Did not the Democrats make a point of saying they were not going to have a negative campaign? Sounds like a change of message to me.

Re: Muslims Represented Poorly (Jon Alvarez)

First of all, don't give me the crap about we welcomed Muslims with open arms...remember the Native Americans, remember that you stole this country from them. Also, don't forget what you did and still do to the African Americans based on skin color. You sound like nothing more than a prejudiced and ignorant person saying that Muslims need to prove to "us" what side they are on. Who is "us"? I am a Muslim and I have lived in this country my entire life and am a US citizen. You don't know the first thing about Islam and I don't have to prove anything to you about who's side I am on. I am on the side of the people who don't lie, cheat, or murder others for their own personal gain, such as Bush and his administration or any other terrorist group, and yes I am calling Bush a terrorist. I am on the side of the people who still act with some decency and compassion. Open your eyes and you will see that the media is totally biased and does not report anything to you about what people are really going through in other countries or who they really are or what the truth of the matter really is, but the media only reports what most Americans want to hear. When people who are already biased against Muslims listen to the reports of a biased media, they hear that Muslims are all terrorists, they all hate America. Guess what? I have lived my entire life without the thought ever crossing my mind that I have to hurt anyone else because I am a Muslim or that I hate America. Are you shocked???? Do yourself a favor and watch Michael Moore's documentary Farenheit 911. If you have eyes that are not blind then you will see; if you have ears that are not deaf then you will hear and understand what the world is really like, its all about good versus evil and good and evil is found in every race, color, creed, religion. If you think that all Muslims are bad or evil and all Christians/Jews are good, then you need mental help, as a matter of fact only God could help you with that problem.

Re: The Appeasement Factor

John

Saw your article on "the appeasement factor"

You know, I agree with most of it, but you missed one inconvenient fact.

I think the election would have turned out differently if the Spanish Government in power at the time (do not remember the name of the PM), hadn't so FORCEFULLY declared that the bombings were the work of ETA. All they had to do was say "we don't know who did this but we will hunt them down and punish them". Instead, they declare without out one shred of a shadow of a doubt that it is ETA that pulled off the bombing and yet the whole world knows that its al queda. The incumbents lost because of gross incompetence.
NEVER NEVER lie your people. Specially not on that grand of a scale. It was a monster screw up, worthy of defeat at the polls.

What then is Zapoterra to do? Go back on his policies? On the policies he had been campaigning for months? That is something a man of honor should never do. But I think it might have been better if he moved them from Iraq to Afghanistan. Zappotera claimed to be committed to the war on terror, help him fight it in Afghanistan, let him pull out of Iraq. If our Government had looked deeper rather than just bluster about caving into terrorists, we could have neutralized this seeming reversal with such a strategy.

Our closest allies in the "war on terror" are not Pakistan or Saudia Arabia.
Those repressive states could just as easily fall into repression anarchy and chaos. Europe, including those very voters in Spain who elected Zapoterro are our closest allies and it behooves us not to isolate them rather to build bridges.

The fault my friend lies with the blatant false assertions of blame to ETA by the then Spanish Government. They would have won the election EASILY if they simply had said we don't know who caused this, but we will find them and punish them and make sure it doesn't happen again.

And for what its worth, my own belief is that they hate Bush so much that we will get a LOT of help with Iraq if Kerry wins, NATO, UN, the whole nine yards, much like Regan, Carter and the hostages and none at all if Bush wins.

Re: Limbaugh's Debt to his Audience

When was Rush Limbaugh's back surgery? I don't believe he ever had any.
He's made the claims, but he was never off of work and never spoke about it on the air. Johnny, Rush never had the surgery. He's just a common junkie.

Re: Protesters/Counter-protesters Clash in D.C.

Re the pregnant woman getting battered by Answer “security”…Where charges filed? Why are these people letting answer get away with beating people?

Thanks,

Reply from Johnny P News:
To our knowledge, no charges have been filed associated with this event

Follow-up e-mail to above

So much for thorough investigative reporting. But I suppose even if it is a lie, anything to help discredit ANSWER is a good thing.

Heather,
I disagree with the thrust of your last missive.

I personally am completely impartial. I was there to do a story on the Protest Warriors and why people protest/counter-protest. The U.S. Park police reported no arrests the day of the rally. None of the Protest Warriors who were attacked reported pressing charges, I checked.
Let me be clear: the story of the events of October 25th as reported on Johnny P News is 100% accurate. But I don’t need to tell you this; you can simply look to the video for corroboration.
My organization existed prior to International A.N.S.W.E.R. and Protest Warrior and I stand by my story.

You shouldn't have brought your wife there, and endangered her and your child's safety. This was a foolish thing to do. What if the police had attacked? your wife could have been trampled by retreating crowds. Your flagrant endangerment of an innocent unborn child in order to make a statement shows a callous disregard for it's safety. I'm no friend of the left myself, but this was irresponsible. I hope in the future you learn some better parenting skills, lest the state (rightly) remove your children from what obviously is an unsafe home.

Reply from Johnny P News:
You have mixed something up. I did not bring my pregnant wife to the protest, a counter-protester did.
However I will say that I have heard your argument posited by others and have to disagree.
In going to the Mall in Washington D.C. in broad daylight to attend a "Peace" rally, one should have the expectation of safety. Too often we blame the victim, instead of those who would repeatedly shove a pregnant lady, even after being informed of her state.
Thank you for reading Johnny P News.

Out of all the news sites I have found on the internet yours is the only one covering what happened Saturday. I realize we were only a group of 60 but I feel certain that if we had waded into the A.N.S.W.E.R. protesters tearing up signs and shoving people around that there would have been much more coverage. Thank you.

Good job on your reporting! I posted your article at FreeRepublic – may account for some of those many hits you’ve been getting.

In an otherwise excellent article ("Protest Security Personnel/Counter-Protesters Clash in Washington"), please allow me to correct one mistake: FReerepublic.com and ProtestWarrior.com are unrelated web sites and have no formal agreement to collabarate in our particular advocacies. There is an "overlap" in membership, i.e., some ProtestWarriors are FReepers and vice-versa, but as organizations, we do not coordinate our activities.
Furthermore, the ProtestWarrior march FRom the FRee Republic Rally site to the A.N.S.W.E.R. was not part of the FReeRepublic rally plan; it was 100% ProtestWarrior planned and executed. The ProtestWarriors showed up at our Rally, stayed 'til about 1:30 PM and then left, en-mass, to attend the A.N.S.W.E.R. Rally.
IOW, please issue a correction notice dissassociating FReeRepublic.com and ProtestWarrior.com.
Otherwise, I believe that your article fairly presented to your readers the events of Saturday afternoon.

Thank you,

Hi,
I was at the rally and I came down from Long Island to attend. So, that's where I came from. Why did I come? A few "pure" reasons and some purely selfish. I have been following Alan/Kfir over the internet for some time. I also check in regularly to brain terminal. Evan, as you probably know, lives in NYC. I was very disturbed by what went on with him at Rutgers the other weekend and I wanted to lend my support to this type of activity, i. e. counter insurgency freedom of speech... I also think PW and Evan have an extremely clever approach. As a matter of fact, while we were in the thick of it, I turned to the PW guy next to me and said "Don't worry, we have intelligence on our side." This one guy wanted to tell us what ass holes we are because of the Crusades!!! I replied "I didn't know the United States was involved in that war!" Now, here's how stupid he was... He thought I was serious and tried explaining to me that he was referring to white Europeans (a category that seemed to fit him like a glove).
Well, I chuckled and he moved on to our slaughter of Native Americans. I guess that well isn't dry yet.
But the encounter that I found truly the most ridiculous was with 4 young, white males, all overweight and one of them (with the biggest mouth) still had braces on his teeth! Would those be the orthodontic appliances that your white, capitalist pig parents are still making payments on??? Well, according to these four, the United States will be the death of the human race...any minute now, hang on, it's coming... It was so childish I finally just looked at them and said "You know, you four white guys are a riot!"
I don't know if you are aware but, the Marine Corps Marathon was the very next day (today). I went back down to the Washington memorial and stood in the very same spot and watched the people involved. Talk about positive energy. There were people running for AIDS research, breast cancer, leukemia, running for boys and girls clubs, running in memory of a loved one...There were blind people running! Moms and Dads of our deployed service members were running, women older and fatter than me were running (that hurt a bit). There were people running carrying full size American flags. There were whole flocks of people dressed the same with matching flags. I mean, it was amazing! As I was coming in to the area, I was at a light on the hill by the Capitol building. I watched a Marine jump out and start pacing a woman. He yelled at her "I'm here for you Martha, now get your butt up this hill!"
My son is a midshipman at the United States Naval Academy. About 200 Mids also ran. I wanted to cheer anyone Navy on! BTW, I gave my PW sign to my son and it is now hanging in Bancroft Hall, home of the brigade of Midshipmen.
So, that is why I went. Oh, at one point about 5 of us PW's had wheedled our way into the crowd and I was feeling a bit nervous. I turned to the PW guy next to me and said "You gotta protect me. If I get hurt my husband's really gonna be pissed!" So, we stuck together. I didn't really catch anyone's name. I was quite concerned with keeping my sign upright, kinda felt like Jesus with the cross...Man, those were some big signs! Most of the useful idiots had these wimpy, crappy signs.
Well, I've droned on, I suppose I should go ahead and post this to the site.
Regards,
Navymom

  Dear Editor of Johnnypnews,

I would like to tell you that I am thankful that you were actually at the
"anti-war" rally, on October 26th, and able to accuratly report on the scuffle
with counter demonstraters. I was a part of the Protest Warriors demonstration
to expose these "peace loving " people for what they really are. I live in
Annapolis MD so it was only about a forty minute trip for me. But many people
from our group came all the way across the country to show support for our
country and soldiers fighting abroud. I can only imagine how mad they must have
felt to have their freedom of speech totally infringed by the A.N.S.W.E.R.
"goons". You did an excellent job in covering what happend and how we where
treated with "front line" reporting. I was able to take a few pictures when I got
some free time, I attached one. I wold just like to say thanks again for the
"fair and balanced" view.
